On the occasion of the annual Supplier function of Volkswagen South Africa, held on April 17, in Cape Town, Schaeffler South Africa, LuK division, was awarded as the Powertrain Commodity Supplier of the Year 2007.

On 3 April, Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG awarded LuK with the Porsche Supplier award for outstanding services at the development centre in Weissach during the Porsche Supplier Day. LuK is now one of the TOP 10 suppliers of the sports car manufacturer from Stuttgart.

The Schaeffler Group will again participate in the DTM 2008 as partner of AUDI. When the lights turn green for the season’s first race in Hockenheim on April 13, popular DTM champion Mattias Ekstroem will for the first time drive the new Red Bull A4 with the “LuK look” to defend his title. Mike Rockenfeller, who ranked 12th last year, will enter the race with last year’s car with the green “INA diamond” and a high level of motivation to finish with a high ranking.

Automobile supplier LuK has begun 2008 with a round-number production anniversary: the millionth pulley set for CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) was produced in mid-February. CVT became known under the product name "Multitronic" from Audi in 1999 with the legendary "Dancing-Elvis" advertisement.

The new 7-speed DSG gearbox from Volkswagen stands for future-orientated double clutch technology and a dynamic, sporty and comfortable driving experience. In close co-operation with Volkswagen, LuK, the specialists in clutch and gear systems, have developed a dedicated dry double clutch to complement the new gearbox. This means that fuel savings of up to 10% are possible by comparison to the current double clutch transmission featuring a wet clutch and up to 6% by comparison to the manual system.

DETROIT, 13.01.2008. LuK has introduced an innovative multi function torque converter (MFTC), which overcomes the challenges imposed onto start-up devices for automatic transmission by modern and highly efficient turbo-diesel engines. Thus, a component has been launched that allows to combine environmentally-friendly diesel technology, which is on a continuous rise in the USA, with the demand for comfort in an automatic transmission.
