In terms of driving comfort, a driver evaluates the entire clutch and actuation system according to smooth disengagement behaviour, user-friendly, force-travel characteristic on the clutch pedal, silent and vibration-free actuation, together with good modulation behaviour during start-up and shift processes. The entire system, from pedal to clutch, must function throughout every operating state and guarantee smooth interaction with other vehicle components. Consideration of the entire chain of functionality requires sub-functions in the clutch system to be carefully tuned to each other. When the clutch pedal is activated, the driver senses the system's response. To satisfy requirements on the clutch pedal, clutch system components must be tuned in terms of friction, compliance and mechanical advantage of the release system. The LuK product portfolio for release systems comprises clutch master and slave cylinders, concentric clave cylinders, pipe technology, anti vibrations units and peak torque limiters.
